Well that's just too long…

No, it has not been a long time since I’ve had a bowl of Wolf Brand Chili. Although actually it has been a very long time since that has happened. I was actually just taken up with my trip to France, and got involved in a lot of life after that which left little time for updating my little portion of real estate on the web here.

With that being writ… away we very unceremoniously go to some links — it’s just a weblog post after all.

Joe Pastry makes Petit Fours I cant stand petit fours, sugary processed, bleah. So it seems that if you make them yourself you at least have some control over how the final effect will be.

Croissants Too. People with food blogs would post a picture of how their croissants came out rather than just a link. I’ll try it, but having it here helps me find it easier in the future.

Confession Quotes

Greatest Catholic Quotes of All Time (Says who? But still a very good collection of quotes.)

Gouzes. The first time someone said Gouzes to me I thought my hearing had gone south. He’s a composer in France working with SATB Mass settings which are fantastic. They are very simple to learn and to sing along with, if you speak French. But only a few translations have been done so far, GIA has them.

Gouzes Music at Sheetmusicplus could be promising as well.

Getting on with things…

I’ve been trying to sift through tons of papers and boxes, which has not gone very far I have to say! Things are in order, just organizing to sell, toss, move, file, … etc.

Around the web today… lots of food.

The Coffee Cottage, local and great, and even offering pastry classes now. I’m tempted to go to learn how to use a pastry bag, which has got to be a lot easier than it is when I am the one doing it.

That being said, this chocolate sour cream cake with peanut butter and cream cheese icing is about one of the easiest things to make without using a mix. I made it last year for a staff gathering, looks impressive, too. Here’s a photo linked from the Smitten Kitchen, which also has the recipe along with tips to make your life even easier while you make the cake.

And then, someone recommended that I try the restaurant Taillevent while in Paris. (Did I mention I’ll be in Paris a few days? I will, but probably won’t make it to Taillevent this time around.)

So I toured around a few more food blogs today:

The Pioneer Woman from a ranch woman’s pen, Chocolate and Zucchini, from Paris; David Lebovitz, Dorie Greenspan, and this great looking soup from 101 Cookbooks.

Then there’s Brownie Power. Can’t have too many brownies you know.

And actually, here’s an list of 50 Best Food Bloggers which is quite useful.

Yeah, I do enjoy foods. We are a banqueting people, as one my mentors once said.

But for now, off to organize a bit more and get a some work done.

Saturday AM

Dave’ Ramsey’s optimistic take on keeping ourselves together during an economic downturn.

Bios of Keynes, Smith, Freidman, and Volker… shapers of the current economic system.

Protective ID sleeves because our credit / debit cards, driver’s licenses, etc, can be read by RDIF chip readers at just about any time, and anyone can get all of our info. Great. I ordered sleeves for my driver’s license and my passport.

Big Momma’s Chicken and Waffles deserves a link because… well, obviously one has to try it out.

Wednesday Morning…

Have been looking at online security again, and am interested in Privacy Crisis, a complete guide to living more securely.

In the exercise front, am looking at Tall Guys Ultimate Workout, a great program for men over 6’2.

From VISnews, the Vatican Information Service, on On St. Anselm .

“In St. Anselm’s view, then, a theologian’s work is divided into threes stages: faith, God’s gratuitous gift to be welcomed with humility; experience, which consists in incarnating the Word of God into daily life; and true knowledge, which is never the fruit of sterile reasoning but of contemplative intuition”.

Hither and Yon, Blogging Anon…

So I’ve been pretty busy of late but actually to the point of blogging it has more to do with an old computer.

Basically the computer, an Acer Ferarri lest we think it’s slack, (even though it is, in it’s antiquity!) crashes fairly often. So I have a lot of drafts that are saved, some that are saved automatically when the computer crashes, some that I save meaning to come back to them then get distracted by said crashes and having a life in general. That’s life these days.

Added to that is the general desire to simply redo the entire thing and move to a different site. We’ll see what comes of that.

At any rate, expect varied and sporadic posts from time to time over the next several weeks followed by vacation updates. Then I hope to be posting from a new computer. We’ll see what comes of that too.

Peace, out.
